Local Groups
The North of England Critical Care Network has been working alongside the Critical Care Units within the region to set up ex-patient/relative satellite support groups. Some groups are registered by ICUsteps and some are new support groups.
Our local groups offer on-going support to patients following their stay in critical care. Coming together helps develop support and reassurance to both patients and relatives and dispels many of their worries. Healthcare professionals often attend these meetings and are happy to offer advice and support if needed. Please join us for a cuppa and a chat!

ICUsteps
The Intensive Care Unit Support Teams for ex-ICU Patients (ICUsteps) was founded in 2005 by ex-patients, their relatives and ICU staff to support patients and their families through the long road to recovery from critical illness.
Our aims are to:
Support patients and relatives affected by critical illness. Promote recognition of the physical and psychological consequences of critical illness through education of the medical profession and the general public.
Encourage research into treatment and the prevention of these issues.
ICUsteps is the United Kingdom's only support group for people who have been affected by critical illness and has helped many former patients, their relatives and medical staff from organisations around the world.
